Friday
Students will use the paper foundation method to piece four small curved flying geese blocks. The blocks will be combined to make a circle of flying geese 8″ in diameter. To showcase the finished block, students will set it into a 9″ wall clock. Students will provide fifteen 5″ squares of fabric for the colored “geese” in their choice of colors/patterns, and 1/2 yard of low-volume background fabric. Fabric choice guidance will be provided in a series of weekly emails before class day. After making a practice block to learn the paper foundation technique, students will construct four blocks that combine into one 8″ block. They’ll add narrow borders and cut the finished block to fit a nine-inch diameter wall clock. The kit fee covers the clock/clockworks. The clock we’ll use is currently available in black and in silver. Joan will provide interfacing, paper foundations, and her Sticky Finger finger-pressing tool.
