This class will provide techniques and feedback on preparing a strip-pieced quilt sandwich that can be used to make clothing or sneakers. Strip piecing and quilting will happen in one step, saving time and frustration. This is a fabulous companion class to “Happy Feet”. Topics covered include: calculating the number of strips and yardage needed for a project; preparation of the backing, batting or foam, and fabric strips; arranging strips into patterns; optimal placement of strips based on the pattern and planned used; techniques for keeping the strips straight; and additional quilting options. For this class you may choose to make a table runner, sneakers, or pieces for an item of clothing, all using the same techniques. At the end of the class, you will have pieced and quilted one of the following: a table runner ready to bind OR all of the pieces needed to make sneakers for “Happy Feet” OR a couple (or more) panels for a quilted coat, top, or shirt. Quilters of all levels of experience can manage this class. You need to be able to sew a straight line and press accurately.
