Penny’s love of quilting began at an early age, sparked by time spent sewing alongside her grandmother on a cherished Singer treadle sewing machine. Those early experiences laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for fabric, color, and craftsmanship, and instilled in her a deep appreciation for the traditions and stories woven into every quilt.
With more than 30 years of quilting experience, Penny has explored nearly every quilting technique along her creative journey. From traditional piecing to modern approaches, she has continuously challenged herself to learn, grow, and refine her skills. Over time, she discovered that paper piecing and appliqué best capture her artistic voice, allowing her to combine precision with creativity and intricate detail.
Penny is the owner and long-arm quilter of Penny’s Patches, where she brings other quilters’ visions to life through expert long-arm quilting services. Her keen eye for design, balanced composition, and texture ensures that each quilt is finished with care and artistry, whether it is a treasured heirloom or a bold showpiece.
Her work has been exhibited internationally and has earned her numerous awards, including multiple Best of Show and Viewer’s Choice honors. These accolades reflect not only her technical excellence but also her ability to connect with audiences through thoughtful design and storytelling in fabric.
In addition to her award-winning quilts, Penny has had a quilting pattern published and featured in Sew Scrappy magazine, further highlighting her creativity and contributions to the quilting community. Today, Penny continues to quilt, teach, and inspire, blending tradition with innovation while sharing her passion for quilting one stitch at a time.
