Joan Radell doesn’t remember not being able to use a sewing machine. With a strong foundation in garment construction, Joan got hooked on quilting in 1991, and made her first handbag in 2010. She published her first handbag pattern in 2015, under the Bucklebee by Me label. She’s known for her love of bright and bold color and pattern, and unexpected, whimsical fabric combinations. In 2016, Joan launched Bucklebee Toolbox, devoted to designing better tools for all kinds of sewing. She markets her tools and patterns online at bucklebeebags.com, and at quilt shows all over the eastern seaboard. Throughout her sewing journey, Joan’s been an enthusiastic garment construction, quilting and handbag construction teacher. Her classes and workshops focus on innovative techniques that result in more professional results. She also shares her love of textile and home-sewing history with quilting and sewing guilds nationwide with lively and informative presentations. To book a presentation, workshop, class series, or offer an invitation to lecture or vend at a quilt or sewing show, please contact Joan via email at bucklebeebags@gmail.com.
