The Mid-Appalachian Quilters (MAQ) gather each summer for a three day educational seminar/retreat filled with classes and networking. The seminar is an opportunity for area quilters to hone their skills with innovative classes led by expert instructors. Quilters love the event because of the opportunity to join their tribe of fellow quilters. We have many quilters that attend the retreat alone but they leave with new friends!

We are pleased to announce our theme for 2026, “Quilting Outside the Box: What If…..?”. This year’s event speaker is Alice Ridge. Alice has been a cherished instructor and vendor at many previous MAQ retreats. We are excited as she has us consider using imagination and improvisation and asking yourself “what if….?”, while creating your next masterpiece. Alice will share how experimenting with different techniques and methods to create something new and unique to you…….may just have you thinking outside the box!

In the off months, your board members work hard to help ensure the retreat runs smoothly and to your expectations. Board members volunteer their time to MAQ. If you would like to volunteer for the next retreat as a member of the board, PLEASE let us know. You may speak with one of the board members and they will get all of your information. Thank you for considering this very important job.
The Lottery Blocks are on-going projects quilters bring with them to finish or show off at the MAQ Educational Seminar.
Our next event is in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, will be held June 5 – 7, 2026.
